Firm Announcement – Metro Manila remains under GCQ; Cebu City now under MECQ
To our valued colleagues and friends, the Philippine Government has further extended the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) status over Metro Manila until 31 July 2020. Other places that will also be under a GCQ set-up are the provinces of Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, Agusan del Norte and Basilan. Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Ormoc City, Southern Leyte, Zamboanga City and Butuan City, Talisay City, Minglanilla and Consolacion will also be under a GCQ set-up.
On the other hand, Cebu City was downgraded from the most stringent enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to a modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until 31 July 2020.
Under a modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), medium risk set up are the provinces of Benguet (including Baguio City), Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan (including Dagupan City), Ilocos Norte, La Union, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga (including Angeles City), Bulacan, Tarlac, Zambales, Batangas, Quezon (including Lucena City), Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Puerto Princesa City, Albay, Masbate, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur (including Naga City), Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Iloilo (including Iloilo City), Negros Occidental (including Bacolod City), Capiz, Antique, Aklan, Guimaras, Negros Oriental, Bohol, Cebu Province, Western Samar, Leyte (including Tacloban City), Biliran, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte (including Iligan City), Cagayan de Oro City, Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur (including Davao City), Davao de Oro, Sultan Kudarat, Cotabato, South Cotabato (including General Santos City), Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao.
The rest of the Philippines will be under a low-risk MGCQ status.
The government is continuously evaluating the situation in the various regions/provinces if there is a further need to change or modify the quarantine situation. Travel restrictions on entry of foreigners are still in effect. However, non-essential foreign travel by Filipinos has been allowed subject to quarantine requirements of the country of destination and other stringent conditions.
Government operations, businesses, services, public transportation and movement of people are restricted based on the prevailing quarantine status.
All Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) controlled ports shall remain open for cargo operations subject to the requirements of the Bureau of Quarantine and the Department of Health.
Inbound international commercial flights for passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Manila) are allowed on a limited capacity and subjected to government regulations.
Domestic flights have partially resumed but heavily restricted by regulations imposed by local government units.
Considering the fluidity of the situation, regulations are subject to periodic evaluation and may change.
